Porsche Taycan diagnostic software for Mac and Windows
STEUER14 reads every control unit of the Taycan over a standard ENET cable: fault codes with freeze frames, live values, actuator tests, the high-voltage battery, coding and software updates. One desktop app on the laptop you already own — and reading the fault memory costs nothing.
A laptop, an ENET cable and a free account
You don't need a dealer tester or a VCI to diagnose a Taycan. STEUER14 needs three things:
- A Mac with Apple silicon on macOS 13 or later, or a PC with 64-bit Windows 10 or 11.
- A standard ENET (Ethernet-to-OBD) cable — the widely available cable used for BMW/VAG Ethernet diagnostics.
- A free STEUER14 account, and an internet connection when you start a session. Per-car data is delivered encrypted and held only in memory while you work.

Read, understand and clear Taycan fault codes
One scan reaches all 66 control units of the Taycan and reports which are present, which answer and which carry faults. Every fault is decoded to plain text, not just a raw code:
- Active or stored, the fault level, and whether it switches on the warning lamp (MIL).
- The decoded status byte and, where the unit stores them, time, mileage, occurrence count and priority.
- Freeze frames: the conditions the control unit captured at the moment it set the fault.
- Faults that were not in the car's previous scan are marked New, so you see what changed.
Clear one control unit or the whole car at once. Clearing erases the codes for good, so fix the cause first: a code for a real defect comes back on the next drive cycle. Reading and clearing fault memory is free on every control unit, with no card required.

How to scan a Taycan, step by step
- 01Install and sign inDownload STEUER14 for Mac or Windows and sign in with your free account. On a Mac, allow Local Network access when asked; on Windows, allow the firewall prompt.
- 02Plug in the ENET cableConnect the cable from the car's OBD port to the laptop and switch the ignition on. Leave the network adapter on automatic (DHCP): the car hands out no address, and the computer gives itself one within about a minute.
- 03Connect & pollWhen the pop-up reads Vehicle found on ENET with the VIN, press Connect & poll. The topology view shows each control unit answering; the verdict reads N of M control units present, K with stored faults.
- 04Work through the faultsOpen the Fault memory tab, click a fault for its details and freeze frame, then start guided fault finding or read how others fixed it.
- 05Fix, clear, rescan, reportClear the fault memory, scan again to confirm, and generate a PDF report for the customer or the car's file.

You pay for the car, never for single control units. Fault memory is free; coding comes with every paid option — car licence, programming pass or workshop plan — and programming with a programming pass or the workshop plan.

Before you start
- Taycan support covers the 9J1 generation, model years 2020–2024, as shown on the supported-cars list.
- Coding and programming change the car and always carry some risk. STEUER14 backs up before every write, asks you to confirm, checks the supply voltage before programming and never stops a flash halfway — but a charger on the 12 V battery is required.
- SFD2 unlock needs a valid online signing entitlement and is part of the workshop plan. Component protection cannot be written yet.
- STEUER14 is in beta (version 0.9.x). All sales are final, so try the free functions on your own car first.

Do I need a PIWIS tester or a dealer VCI?
No. STEUER14 runs on a Mac or Windows laptop with a standard ENET cable. See how it compares in PIWIS alternative.
Is reading Taycan fault codes really free?
Yes. Reading and clearing fault memory on every control unit, with descriptions and freeze frames, is free, and so are the whole high-voltage battery module and the actuator tests that need no security unlock. No card, no expiry.
Can I update Taycan control-unit software?
Yes. Programming needs a programming pass (€49 per car for 7 days, every unit, container and retry, coding included) or the workshop plan, which includes it. With the workshop plan, the integration test shows first which units need an update.
Which other Porsche models does STEUER14 support?
The 911 (992), Panamera (971, 972) and Cayenne (9YA) with diagnostics, live values, actuator tests, maintenance, coding and programming; the high-voltage battery and Charging pages are Taycan-only. The Macan Electric and Cayenne Electric are in testing, with fault memory, live values, actuator tests and manual coding.
